If you have been trying to find a new tent for camping or backpacking, you have probably started your search by looking at tents from companies you already know and trust – and if this is the case, there is a good chance you have spotted the SunDome tent that Coleman makes; the SunDome tent comes in sizes ranging from one person to four people, and with a name like Coleman stamped onto the tent, you will certainly feel good about it at first – but one thing that may make you shy away from the Coleman SunDome is the price, as you might wonder if a tent that is so inexpensive could actually be any good!

One of the main things you will want to look at when shopping for a tent is how easy the tent is to set up, as you certainly will not want to get out to your campsite and find that setting up your tent is a huge hassle; the Coleman is great as far as setup goes, as you can easily set it up in ten minutes on your own – and if you have someone else with you, you should be able to set up the tent in under five minutes!

Another thing that will be important is finding a tent that will protect you from water, that will retain heat well, and that will fit as many people as it claims to fit; the SunDome scores high on all these areas, as the rain fly helps to keep water out of your tent with no problem, as the tent does a moderately good job trapping heat, and as you can comfortably fit as many people in the tent as it is designed to fit.

And if you plan to go backpacking with your tent (instead of just driving to a campsite and setting up your tent right there), another big deal will be the weight and ease of transport; the SunDome is extremely easy to transport, but the weight is one area where it is not quite as great as you might like. As long as you don’t plan to travel long distances, however, these couple extra pounds will be no problem – and you will have a tent that did not cost you much money at all, and that is extremely easy to set up and tear down each time you camp!
