During fantasy football season, Saturdays and Sundays – right up until kickoff on Sunday afternoon – can be full of stress and second-guessing (especially for those who are really into fantasy football!), as plenty of decisions will need to be made each week as far as who to start and who to sit; because of this, plenty of fantasy footballers make crazy decisions in hopes of catching lightning in a bottle, but it is much better to make the “right” decision each week than to make the wrong one. There will be times where you could make the wrong decision and get lucky with it paying off, but in the long run, you will win a lot more games if you are able to consistently go with the “right” move, starting the guy who gives you the best chance of winning.
The matchups a player is facing is one of the big things that causes people to make crazy decisions, as far as who they will start and who they will sit, but realize that matchups generally affect the outcome of a player’s fantasy football output a lot less than people give them credit for; it is much better to start one of your top-tier players in a tough matchup than to start a second-tier player against a softer opponent. Of course, if you are trying to decide who to start between a pair of second-tier players who each have similar matchups, this can be a bit trickier, as there will be no clear “right” decision; the best thing for you to do when this is the case is to find the “weekly rankings” on as many fantasy football websites as you can, as you will usually find that the experts will be consistently ranking one player higher than the other for that week – which will give you your answer as to what the “right” move is. And of course, there will also be times when even this does not answer the question of who you should start – times when some experts have one player higher, and others have the other; when this is the case, realize that there is, in fact, no “right” move, and you can go with your gut, cross your fingers, and hope things work out!Tags: General
