If you have been searching for a better cup of coffee with those amazing flavors you are used to having to pay for, it might be time to switch to a french press. What may amaze most people is that using a french press isn’t nearly as complicated or intense of a process as most would believe.
It is common to find grinders in most grocery stores, free for your use. Making it easy and convenient to select your coffee in store and not have to deal with a grinder at home. A big misconception coffee drinkers have is that storing your coffee in the freezer, helps to preserve it. In fact keeping your coffee in the freezer actually exposes it to the odors of food stored there. It is recommend to pick up a simple air tight canister to keep your coffee in. There are a large number of different french presses on the market. Most presses are farily similar, the choice really comes down to personal preference. Would you like something that is more elegant for entertaining guests, or are you looking more on the practical side, with a thermos to keep the coffee warmer for a longer period of time? After your initial setup, the day to day routiner is incredibly straightforward. You will need to boil water first, then add both the grounds and the water into your french press. Let it steep for 4 minutes, then press. Now you have your first cup of amazing great coffee, full of flavor! However it is worth mentioning the couple downsides to using a french press versus a traditional drip coffee maker. You will be required to rince out your french press daily after use, and occasionally wash it in the dish washer, where a more traditional coffee maker doesn’t require much. Also you lose the luxury of setting a timer before bed and waking to a fresh pot of coffee, however for most we find the better taste well makes up for this loss. The switch overall to a french press is painless and more than worth it for a better cup of joe.Tags: General
