One of the biggest questions people tend to deal with in the course of their life is how they can go about making their relationship work; this is a complex question, of course, and the answer to this question is multi-faceted (after all, what “works” for some people may not work at all for others!), but there are also a handful of specific things any couple can keep in mind when it comes to making their relationship work, as these things can help to lay the foundation for a relationship that will continually flourish as time goes by.

One mistake a lot of people make inside of their relationship is that they look to their counterpart for “completion,” expecting that the other person will be more than a complimentary part, and will instead be the part that completes them; when you approach a relationship in this manner, you set it up for failure, as it is much healthier to look to the other person to be someone who compliments you, rather than to be someone who completes you!

As you and your significant other make it your goal to compliment one another, another thing you should both learn to do is to pick out the things about one another that you like – dwelling on these things, instead of dwelling on the things about them that you dislike; too many couples constantly try to “change” one another, and as they do this, they build up resentment on both sides, but when you look to appreciate the things you like and let go of the things you do not especially like, the two of you will grow much stronger and much closer together.

And one goal you should put above all others is that the two of you make an effort to always have fun and make memories together. A lot of couples take their relationship, themselves, and life in general far too seriously, and this causes everything to feel much more serious than it needs to be, but when you and your significant other learn to make memories and have fun together, each of you will continue to move into a place where your relationship is more fun, and where life is more fun as a result!
