Morning sickness can cause the early part of your pregnancy to be just miserable.  Finding things to eat can be a struggle. There are some foods that can be easy on the stomach and healthy for you at the same time. Here are some suggestions to try on your tender stomach.

Queasy stomaches sometimes do well with fresh fruits. Try oranges and strawberries, although they are acidic some people don’t have problems with them. The acidity may be a bit high for some people, but if you can eat them they are very high in vitamin c and also foliate. If these are too acidic for you, try things like bananas (which are high in foliate, and potassium), and avocado.

If you can’t quite stomach the idea of a burger and need protein, reach for yogurt. This dairy product is high in protein and also has probiotics (live bacteria). Probiotics are begining to be linked to a number of health benefits including reducing the risk of yeast infection, and also strengthening your immune system. Hot cerials sometimes sit well on an upset stomach.  You could try Malt-o-meal to see how it sits. Malt-o-meal is high in protein and also in foliate.

You could also consider some lentil soup. Pregnant women despirately need protein, iron, and fiber and lentils boast all of these things. Another great mildly flavored food to try is Quinoa. This has a mild nutty flavor and is high in protein and iron. With just a bit of brown sugar and a hand full of raisins, quinoa can make a very nice hot breakfast.

If you can stomach figs they can be a good source of both iron and fiber. These are sweet fruits that go down pretty easily. Nuts are also a great way to get some calories. They are high in fiber, protein, and also contain omega fatty acids.

We all know how important it is for mom to stay healthy and eat right during pregnancy. This can be incredibly hard to do when nothing you eat sits right. Some of these foods may be a bit easier on your stomach.
